Aloo Tikki

Aloo Tikki is a traditional dish of Rajasthan. Let’s make it in our own way!

Ingredients

  1. 250 gms potatoes
  2. 2 tbsp bread crumbs
  3. 100 gms chana dal
  4. 1/2 tbsp chat masala powder
  5. 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  6. 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  7. 2-3 green chillies (chopped)
  8. Salt (to taste)
  9. 2 tbsp green coriander (chopped)
  10. 1 tbsp oil
  11. 1 cup water

Procedure

  • Take a pan, boil the potatoes in water and allow it to stand for 5 minutes. Peel and mash the potatoes.
  • Wash and soak chana dal in a cup of water for 1 hour. Boil soaked dal with 1 cup of water (in a covered bowl) for 10 minutes and put it into a pressure cooker for 4 minutes.
  • Make a smooth mixture of mashed potatoes and bread crumbs.
  • Mix dal with all the ingredients in the filling.
  • Make small balls of the potato mixture after applying oil on your hands and shape them into small tikkis.
  • Place the tikkis on greased tawa and fry them until brown.

Enjoy with green chutney and sonth.
